Moldova
Moldova, formerly a part of the Soviet Union, is a small country in Eastern Europe that has been deemed one of the top five unhappiest countries in the world.
Although Moldova¹s constitution provides for freedom of religion, it’s culture is deeply rooted in the Orthodox Church, which is the primary religion recognized by the Moldovan government.
In the capitol city of Chisinau, there is a group of Moldovan Christians who have started a ministry called The Lord’s Army Church.
The mission of The Lord’s Army Church is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Moldova without breaking away from the Orthodox culture. To help carry out their mission they organize worship services, facilitate small groups, and operate camps.
So how does all of this involve Two Rivers Church?
In the summer of 2008, a team of eight people from Two Rivers went to Moldova for ten days. They went to work and serve at a camp that was attended by forty college-aged men and women, eighteen of whom were not Christians.
During their time in Moldova, the individuals from Two Rivers were able to share their testimonies, lead discussions, participate in small groups, and build relationships with some incredible people.
It was in those moments that many young Moldovans opened their hearts and began to let God into their lives.
As a continuation of what God began in the Summer of 2008, Two Rivers sends monthly financial support to the pastors of The Lord’s Army Church and also donates the funds necessary to run the camp each summer.
